Local Singer Songwriter Raising Funds for Colorado Flood Victims

Local singer/songwriter Christine Costanzo may not live in Colorado but the state has a special place in her heart. For several years Costanzo has travelled to Lyons to take part in the Rocky Mountain Song School and Folk Festival. For eighteen years the song school has been bringing songwriters, from fledgling to professional, to learn the art of songwriting for a week in August. For twenty-four years the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival has presented a competition where artists apply for a spot on the prestigious stage. Lyons was caught in the 300-year flood that struck the eastern range in August and Costanzo wants to help out.
While in Lyons friendships are often formed that last a lifetime. Costanzo met up with Rob Clark, a folk artist from Boulder by way of New York. Clark will travel to Madison to take part in the fundraiser which takes place at 8 PM this Friday, October 24th at Mother Fools Coffeehouse on Williamson Street. All proceeds will go to the Flood Relief Fund of the Lyons Community Foundation.
Joining the pair will be local performer and under-recognized guitarist Brad Graham who just released a new CD. All three performers will have the CDs available at this event and those proceeds will also go toward the flood relief effort.

Rob Clark and Christine Costanzo formed a friendship over years of camping and performing together at the Rocky Mountain Song School and Folks Fest in Lyons, Colorado–one of the devastated communities from the recent flooding in Colorado. Rob is on tour promoting his new CD, Two Hands On The Wheel. This show is a benefit for the flood victims with all CD sales and cover charge going to the Lyon’s Community Fund.

Rob Clark is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. Originally from Western New York, he has been a resident of Boulder, Colorado for more than 20 years. Rob makes his way onto the music scene on multiple fronts, participating in festivals, jams, and on-stage performances — much of these Colorado local, but he’s also taken it to places in California, Kentucky, New York, Wales, and Argentina. Rob’s instruments include the guitar, fiddle, and banjo. He enjoys singing, and especially harmony singing. Favorite genres include outlaw country, country, rock, Celtic, bluegrass, folk, and Americana. .
Rob has played in several bands in Colorado integrating his own songs wherever possible: Cheese Shoppe; a band of co-workers playing electric rock and roll and dance music, Steel Pennies; playing straight up bluegrass, Windfall; a sort of coffeehouse rock band, and RCJK; a duo with a strong emphasis on original music and harmony singing.
This year Rob made his debut album. In preparing the material, he wanted to capture a set of songs that sounded good together but also offered a broad view into his writing. That was something producer John McVey understood right away. The album Two Hands On The Wheel is Rob’s first full production effort. It features some of the best local area musicians. It was recorded at Coupe Studios and mastered at Airshow. As such, its an all-Colorado project, something Rob is quite happy to point out.
