MAMA CARES 1st Annual Mothers Day Weekend Fund Drive is This Weekend
If you are out on the town this Mother’s Day Weekend, and you are taking in some local entertainment, you may be asked to make a contribution to the MAMA Cares Jacy Ray Fund. Currently the Madison Area Music Association has coordinated with 37 music events in 28 venues over the weekend to raise awareness and funds.
MAMA Cares was formed last year to address the needs of local musicians and their families in times of strife. The fund will provide cash gifts to applicants who are requesting forms for catastrophic medical bills and certain other situations. There is lots of information on the MAMA Cares website.
MAMA Cares is striving to create an endowment fund and the Mothers Day Weekend Fund Drive will become an annual event.
Below is the list of venues and performers who are slated to help with the cause. Please give if you can. Musicians are notoriously underinsured and MAMA Cares again illustrates what separates Madison from the pack when it comes to supporting local musicians.
