As the city readies itself to celebrate one of its most storied musicians, the Coalition for the Recognition of Clyde Stubblefield has launched a Power 2 Give project to raise money for the Clyde Stubblefield Scholarship Fund. The fund has been established with the Foundation for Madison Public Schools and will be awarded annually to a graduating senior who is moving on to higher education with a concentration in music. Donations can be made at the Power 2 Give website and are tax-deductible. Arts Wisconsin is serving as the fiscal receiver.

The scholarship fund was established as part of a series of events that have been planned to honor Stubblefield (read more here). The first kickoff fundraiser is taking place at the High Noon on August 30. A second all-star event will be held at the Barrymore Theater on September 11. The Recognition Event will be held Thursday, October 8th in the Overture Center Lobby as part of the Madcity Sessions series.

Fundraising for the scholarship fund will run for a limited time. There are also corporate matching funds available so every dollar counts. Now is the time to contribute toward a lasting tribute to one of Madison’s greatest musical citizens.
