Madison Jazz Consortium’s Strollin’ Schenk’s Corners is Friday, May 23
The Madison Jazz Consortium announces the first in a series of “Strollin;” events on Friday, May 23 with the inaugural Strollin’ Schenk’s Corners; eight hours of live jazz in several neighborhood venues. Schenk’s Corners is at the intersection of Atwood Avenue and Winnebago Street on Madison’s on Near East Side. The music starts at the Chocolaterian at 5 p.m. and winds up at 12:45 a.m. at the Alchemy. In between patrons can stroll between the Monona State Bank, Thorp’s Salon and One Barrel Brewing without paying a cover charge. The Strollin’ events are mini-fests intended to invigorate neighborhoods by encouraging patronage at area businesses while exposing event-goers to Madison’s outstanding local jazz musicians.
Consortium members and producers Nick Moran and Rob Lundberg plan to bring similar mini-fests to other Madison neighborhoods during the summer. The Strollin’ series is made possible by a sponsorship from Monona State Bank, support from each of our other host venues, and a grant to the Jazz Consortium by the John and Carolyn Peterson Charitable Foundation. Best of all, these generous sponsors allow the Consortium to pay the musicians for their services.
