Broom Street Sessions brings diverse local music to Willy Street

The following is a press release from Laura Detert

Broom Street Sessions, a series of monthly performances by local musicians at Broom Street Theater, 1119 Williamson St., will return for its second year on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. with performance by Madison bands Safety Last and The Tiny Band.

The Sessions’ first year featured mostly acoustic performances by such Madison artists as Count This Penny, Nick Brown, Little Legend, and Oedipus Tex. The series aims to give local musicians and audiences the rarified experience of enjoying a shows in Broom Street’s black-box theater space.

Though focused on stripped-down and acoustic acts, the series also aims to bring audiences a varied sampling of Madison music. Expect this year’s shows to reach across not just folk and country, but also jazz and the avant-garde.
