2011 Launchpad Band Application Period to Open January 3rd

The 2011 Launchpad competition, now in its 7th year, will open for registration on January 3rd.  Launchpad is the only program of its kind in the nation – a statewide school music competition for high school students in garagebands, of all musical genres.  The band application period will remain open through February 4, 2011.

Sixty bands (15 bands for each of four statewide regional competitions) will be chosen to perform this Spring as they vy to be one of three bands in each regional to advance to the finals show.  A 13th band (selected from all band applicants) will be the “wild card” band chosen through a world-wide voting system of listeners on Broadjam. com.

All bands are vying for the launchpad Finals (next June 11 at the Wisconsin Union Theater on the UW-Madison campus) for the grand prize of: the Les Paul Launchpad Award, free recording time at Blast House Studios in Madison and a 2011 Summerfest gig. The Madison regional winners are also recognized at the Madison Area Music Awards to be held June 4th at the Capitol Theater in the Overture Center.
